Here's a very cool looking MCM built in 1958 that appears mostly undisturbed in a neat little mid-century neighborhood off Forest Lane and Central. Great lot and trees, lots of windows, washed wood paneling and brick floors. Is that a St. Charles kitchen? The deets and the pix are here.

Great blog and photos. I am in love with that house. I'm going to subscribe to you. -Thx
I was the former owner of this property from 1990-1994. When we purchased this home, all of the original MCM details from 1958 construction were still in tact, including St. Charles kitchen cabinets, star burst design light-switch plates, a sonic wall clock in the kitchen, pocket doors and many more. We restored the kitchen cabinets using multiple layers of rubbed lacquer paint. The best features of the house were a cleverly hidden wet bar and full bathroom with giant walk-in shower just off the pool area and a private lanai off the master bedroom. Architectural and environmental design elements also included extended over-hanging roof line eaves, metal casement windows throughout, and brick floors in the main living areas to moderate summer heat. The wood paneling was African cherry, selected because the contiguous vertical reach accommodated the vaulted ceilings without horizontal wood seams. I have been unable to remember or locate the name of the architect and builder responsible for this fantastic design. He designed one other house of similar style and building materials in the same neighborhood located at 7517 Baxtershire. Any help would be appreciated. Hunter Pollitt
